Next one. Ladies and gentleman, I present you ... A flower press for ... well, pressing flowers or something :)
Although I don't press plants, I built it with special concern. It is to be a leading product in my shop's offer. I know that you people do creepy things to flowers and other plants and Julia has came up with the idea, so here it is.
The exact pressing parts are made of alder. I wanted to make them look like pieces of art. Although I know that it's only a practical tool, I am so fascinated with old sculpted furniture, of which every piece descibes different story just by special decorations on it's surface, that I went berserk with my router ^^
The pressing surfaces are made from old shelves I've got from my grandfather. They are made of pine with suprisingly thick oak veneer.
I think it's not a mystery how do you use the press so I won't describe it. Just look at the photos and tell me if you like it, don't be shy, comment!
(If you would like me to make another one for you just e-mail me or leave the comment and I'll tell you the price and any other information.)
P.S. Julia just told me that it can be useful for painters as well, as a watercolour paintings press - I think every painter knows exactly what I mean. Keeps your works only two-dimensional :)

Frame time
I've recently found some alder at Obi and managed to make some picture frames of it. As I wrote before, we are trying to set our own bussiness - a shop on Etsy, so we need to make some simple and practical projects to sell. Of course, my artistic soul couldn't bear the simplicity and I made dedicated picture frame for Julia. I've also watched a lot of Japanese woodworking on Youtube and tried some of their methods. Or maybe, those methods aren't really their, the way of thinking is. I've sharpened my chisel and got to work.
You don't see it here, no one does, but every piece of the frame is connected to another by mortise and tenon joints, handcrafted tenons with a little help from my router. I mean, it took me whole day to make the frame, so it was really arduous day :)
And then, I've managed to make a little drawing for Julia. The picture acts as a background picture, like those usually provided with picture frames and usually really crappy. Well, I'm not a painter, but I did my best :P

My workshop table
I shouldn't do that but anyway, finally I have photos of my projects and I want to share it all with you at once. So today is my productive day of advertising my blog and starting my and Julia's shop on Etsy, finally.
Couple of posts ago I wrote that I was building an assembly table for my shop, and here it is. I managed to make it as sturdy as I can and then I realised that I can attach my router to it and make it assembly-and-router table :) That's why I abandoned the idea of drilling holes in the table-top, the ones which would hold paper sheet sized projects like some picture frames and so one. I drilled only one big whole in the middle for my router and that fits me enough.
The table is made of pine and the top of plywood. Whole frame is just painted with oil and the top is painted with my favourite walnut stain, then with stain fixer and waxed so it's surface is really slippery. That's a really good feature for a router table and only a little bad for assembly table. Pure mathematics.
The photos are awful, it's because my garage isn't properly lit and now it's a little messy in there so I couldn't move the table outside. But, let's enjoy it from the purely practical side.
P.S. Julia made the last photo when I was showing her how the router table works. So, it's a little fake regarding the router wasn't really turned on :) But, shh.

Notebook-in-bed table
As I promised, I attach some photos of my notebook-in-bed table. It took some time and sorry for that (if you are one of several visitors, now you may feel individually sorried :)
So, the table is suitable for any bedroom and fits any of bed activities which before were really hard for our necks. It sits on an office-chair leg, so it moves on it's wheels and you can adjust it's heigth as well. The table was painted with a walnut stain and the top then was painted with a stain laquer so it should be water resistant. There are little special compartments for pens and for cups in the taable top and one big compartment under it.
Well, you will see everything in the photos. Enjoy.

Coming not-so-soon
Here's some photos of things I've recently started making, or rather re-making.
Table top made from great-grandfather's planks and an picture/mirror frame,
which originally was a door from an old standing clock.
Coming next - my new workbench - almost finished.
